I said yesterday that I think we all know in the depths of our hearts, from the very beginning, if we are going to be successful or not when we set our minds to implement a change. Because effecting change is so hard, we must have added energy to make it happen and one thing is certain: the added energy needed will not rise from living and thinking as we did yesterday. Some shift must take place so that we have this new source of energy available to sustain the effort.
Now, a shift is something that may happen in an instant or be the result of a lengthy process, but regardless of how it takes place, we know if it’s there or not. Alas, in most cases the drive for change is only desire (I wish I were________fill in the blank), a date on the calendar (New Year), a challenge from a friend (a dare perhaps) rather than a shift in mindset – and so success is not likely!
So here is my solution: to seek constant exposure to new everything! Whether the new is knowledge, ideas, people, environments, I seek to experience stuff that jolts me from the same old framework and puts me a bit off balance and outside of my zone of comfort! And while I know that dealing with life from a place that is less comfortable will be energy-intensive, I know it is simply a trade of to be able to gain lots more energy later on. Hey, you cannot get something for nothing, right?
So cheers for the uncomfortable and the unexpected, as they are the crucible of transformation. Onward,
Cristina
