This post is more fitting for Friday, because if I manage to tempt you to listen to Caroline McHugh’s talk, you’ll have more time to do so over the weekend. But I was too excited to keep it even for 2 days! Caroline’s talk is titled “The Art of Being Yourself” and you may imagine why it got me on fire. The way others perceive us, the way we want to be seen, who we really are…these are layers we need to explore and peel back. The challenge is “taking your ego from the dominant position and pull it back so that it is in service to yourself “ says Caroline, because “that’s when it becomes useful!” If we can find the place between the extremes, we find what she calls equanimity equilibrium, a confidence that comes from inside. From that place we can then redefine the “impossible” as “I’mpossible” and “impotent” as “I’mpotent.” And she reminds us of the traditional Indian concept that we are nothing but spiritual beings who happen to be in a physical body.
There is a lot of food for thought in this talk – hope you enjoy it as much as I did. And a quick note that there will be no post tomorrow (Thursday) because we are going to a function in the evening and I’ll be too tired to write when we get home.
Onward,
Cristina
